KUCHING: Sarawak Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah on Wednesday paid a visit to Komited Malaysia intervention centres in Kuantan, Pahang.

The centres offer integrated and holistic services to the people.

Fatimah disclosed, in a statement on Thursday, that the working visit would be able to provide insights to the ministry in addressing a complete chain in the cycle of illicit drug and substance issues in Sarawak to recover addicts to return to the mainstream community.

“This visit has enlightened us to give focus on other comprehensive approaches to continue care and service as well as providing one stop intervention to address addiction and drug abuse disorder.

“These include services such as providing helpline services, prevention and education, outreach, Needle Syringe Exchange Programme (NSEP), drop in centre, shelter homes, support services, burial services, community services, funding services and palliative care,” she added.

Also present were Komited Malaysia special counsel Datuk Dr Ahmad Shukri Ismail and Komited Malaysia president Khalif Hashim.
