VIRALLED … It is claimed that this water tank is of poor quality.

KUCHING: The Rural Water Supply Department has clarified that a dented grey water tank which went viral on social media recently was due to mishandling during transportation.

In a statement released yesterday, the department said the fact that the tank was bent over in the middle did not indicate poor quality as it was made from very flexible, lightweight and durable food-grade polyethene (PE) resins.

“The tank will return to its normal cylindrical shape when filled with water. The tanks were manufactured under stringent quality control measures according to SIRIM’s MS1225 standard. In fact, the tanks are supplied with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty,” the statement read.

The tanks will become cylindrical again after being filled with water.

“The tanks are specifically made for convenience and not easily damaged or broken. They can be safely transported to logistically challenging rural areas.”

The department also advised the transporter to deliver the water tanks safely. Any deformation must be fully rectified prior to handing the tanks over to the users,” said JBALB.
