KUCHING: An Indonesian from West Java who resisted arrest was found in possession of drugs in front of the wharf at Taman Sri Dagang in Bintulu at noon last Thursday.
Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department head Superintendent Hasnir Abdul Hamid said that when the police tried to arrest the 23-year-old suspect, he turned aggressive and attempted to flee.
After the arrest, they found a small plastic packet with transparent substances. Two small straws were found in his black jacket.
Hasnir said the seized drugs weighed 7.2g and were valued at RM1,500.
The suspect was arrested under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and was taken to the police station for further investigation.
He tested positive for drugs and would be charged under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
Further checks found that the suspect was an illegal; he would be charged under Section 6 (1) (C) of the Immigration Act.
