KAPIT: Some 50 local bodies including Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK), clubs and associations received grants totalling RM821,000 from Katibas assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan under his minor rural project (MRP) allocation.

The handing over of the grant was held recently at Song office of the Kapit District Council.

“Each state assemblyman is allocated a grant of RM2 million under the MRP annually. With the limited amount, it is not possible to distribute the allocation to all the JKKKs. Hence, the grant is given based on priority.

“The first batch of MRP grant involves an allocation of RM821,000 while the second batch, which is expected to be disbursed in December involves an amount more than RM1 million,” said Blikau.

He advised the grant recipients and JKKKs to discuss with their longhouse community on how best to spend the money.
