KUCHING: So far RM90,000 has been successfully raised through the promotion of the upcoming ‘Love and Care for Wishesland Concert’, and it is hoped that more will be received.
The international charity concert will be held 7pm on Sept 20 at Pullman Hotel here. It is organised by Mirage Club Sarawak and Kuching and Samarahan Division Cerebral Palsy Association (better known as Wishesland).
Its purpose is to raise funds for Wishesland to set up new facilities to support those with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood.
“Gao Cuilian (Cheng Guangzhong, the wife of Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching) will sing at the concert,” said Mirage Club Sarawak president Datin Amar Kathryn Wee hopefully, during a press meet at her residence at Mathies Road here, yesterday.
The line-up of performers at the concert also includes the concert’s organising chairperson Datin Dona Drury-Wee, a choir from Singapore, American sopranos, and other musical talents such as Stanley Maringai of Akademi Fantasia.
She also revealed that guests of honour to attend the charity concert are Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang; Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; and Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Concert tickets, which entitle the buyers for tax exemption receipts, are available from Wishesland and Mirage Club Sarawak.
