KUALA LUMPUR: The revving of engines of 112 Harley-Davidson high-powered motorcycles pierced the silence of the Friday morning at Angkasapuri, home of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

At about 9am, the multiracial group of riders set off on a mission to forge greater unity among themselves and promote healthy living through the motorsport activity.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo flagged off the convoy of the Kingz Annual Ride (KAR), which organised the event in conjunction with Malaysia Day on Sept 16. The flag-off was aired on the Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme of RTM.

Approached after the flag-off, Gobind praised the Kingz MG motorcycle group for organising the event and said such initiatives are important because “we want to focus on unity and I believe this is a manifestation of our togetherness”.

“I hope initiatives such as this will be emulated by the people, especially during this National Month,” he said.

Gobind said the riders will fly the Jalur Gemilang national flag on their machines during the three-day ride to and around Perak.
