MIRI: A 48-year-old woman got the shock of her life when she discovered a half-metre-long black cobra in her house in Kampung Masjid Kuala Baram on Thursday morning.

The woman was cleaning her kitchen at around 10.30am when she saw something moving and after a closer look she realised it was a black cobra. She then contacted the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) for assistance.

Miri APM officer, Captain Mohd Hazle Shah Hamid said three personnel were dispatched to the house after they received a distress call at 10.45am.

“It took us about 20 minutes to capture and removed the snake from the house before taking it back to our office for further action,” he said in a statement here.
