KUCHING: Rural small-medium enterprises (SMEs) are urged to consistently improve their abilities and skills through courses and training sessions organised by the Community Development Department.
As such, Rural Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun said it was necessary for the ministry to monitor the development progression of entrepreneurs.
“We do not want for the tool kit that was given to be not fully utilised after they have completed the course.
“It’ll be such a waste. The government has allocated a substantial budget just to ensure that we are able to help increase the income of those in the rural areas,” she said after a ceremony at Kampung Semariang Batu here to present tool kits for the ‘Quick Win’ course yesterday.
“I want to improve this programme because previously, no monitoring was done.
“We want improvement to achieve the KPI and to ensure that SMEs can achieve greater market internationally and help to reduce disparities between urban and rural Malaysians, in line with the Shared Prosperity Vision 2021-2030,” she added.
Earlier, 29 participants completed the course organised by Kemas, and received equipment to help start their business, including ovens, maternity sets and sewing machines.
