KUCHING: A total of 2,300 athletes from 28 countries will participate in 25 events at the 21st Asia Masters Athletics Championship (AMAC) at the state stadium here from December 2 to 7.
This was disclosed by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah disclosed at a press conference after chairing a meeting for the organising committee of the 21st Asia Masters Athletics Championship (AMAC) here yesterday.
The event will provide an opportunity for former champions in their respective disciplines to make a comeback and share their knowledge, experience and skills with the younger generation, the minister said.
He added that the holding of 21st AMAC will also help to boost the state tourism industry as it will draw in more visitors to the state.
Also present at the press conference were Sarawak Sports Corporation Chairman Dr Ong Kong Swee and Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
