BINTANGOR: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas visited a 270-hectare citrus and pomelo fruit farm here last Saturday.

Owned by Sunmark Trading Sdn Bhd in Bundong Sian, the farm plants pomelo, limau susu, and limau madu.

Operating for the past two years, company spokesman Danny Huang Dung Po said the farm was expecting harvest by the end of 2020.

As such, the company hoped Uggah, who is also Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister, would be able to provide assistance in promoting digital farming.

“We are seeking technical assistance and knowledge from the relevant departments,” he said.

Danny added that Sunmark also has a strategic partnership with First Biogreen Sdn Bhd to buy the fruits from their farm.

“We plan to market our products in the state and overseas markets,” he said.

Uggah said his ministry would see how they could help to increase fruit production at the farm.

“The ministry will see how it can help the company in aspects like drainage plus other technical inputs.

“Sunmark can certainly contribute towards the state’s aim of becoming a net exporter of food and food products by 2030,” he added.
