LIMBANG: A family of seven had the shock of their life when they discovered deep mud had slid into their Bukit Kota house while they were asleep.
According to one of the occupants, Abdul Rahman Dollah, 49, the incident happened so fast that none of them noticed it.
“At that time, I was sleeping in the living room which is facing the area where the mudslide occurred.
“The incident happened around three in the morning and was only noticed by neighbours who saw the land collapsed onto the front yard.
“The shock seeped in when we finally realised how close to tragedy we were,” he said when contacted yesterday.
While no one was hurt, a Perodua Alza car and several other items were damaged.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) acting director Tiong Ling Hii said the landslide was due to heavy rainfall since Friday.
Tiong added that he received an emergency call at 5.10am and immediately despatched a team of firefighters from the Limbang Fire Station to the scene.
He said his men helped to move the car which got stuck in the thick mud.
