KUCHING: The inaugural Samarahan Food Festival organised by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) is scheduled to be held next month from Nov 1 to 11.

The food festival set to be held in front of Summer Mall will be officially opened by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Whereas, the festival’s closing ceremony on Nov 11 along with MPKS’ third anniversary dinner will be graced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to council chairman Datuk Peter Minos, the Samarahan Food Festival will be the biggest iconic event in Kota Samarahan and it looks to become an annual event.

Minos, along with Samarahan Division Resident Brahim Lumpu are the joint chairmen of the food festival while Abdul Karim is the patron.

“Thai and Indonesian food will be prepared and served along with the local Sarawak cuisines.

“Over 70 food and beverage stalls will be erected in front of Summer Mall. The people of Samarahan are known and noted for fine food and drinks, especially seafood, being close to the sea and big rivers,” he said.

Minos gave a five-word assurance, “You will not regret it” as the Samarahan community will have a lot in store for the visitors.

Members of the public are invited to bring their friends, family and loved ones to attend the festival next month.
