KUCHING: A 23-year-old unemployed man was arrested for possession of drugs on Wednesday afternoon. Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon revealed that, acting on information received, a team of police arrested the suspect from Kampung Krokong, Bau and found a transparent plastic packet containing syabu. The drug weighing 0.16g was seized and the suspect tested positive for drugs.
He faces charges under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and 15(1) (a) of the same Act for consumption. Poge added that the suspect could face a fine of RM100,000 or jail time not more than five years for the first charge.
While for the second charge, he could be fined RM5,000 or jailed not exceeding two years. The suspect was detained for further investigation.
