KUCHING: The ‘Religious Freedom and Nation Building’ seminar, organised by the Dayak National Congress (DNC) will see four papers to be presented on the issue of freedom of religion.

The event will be held at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) building from 8am to 4pm on Nov 9.

Its organising chairman Patrick Sibat said one of the objectives of the event is to educate and create awareness among citizens on the laws under the Federal Constitution on protecting and respecting freedom of religion in the country.

“And to emphasise the challenges faced relating to religious freedom or faith in Malaysia,” he said in a press conference yesterday.

Also present were DNC president Paul Raja, advisers Mengga Mikui and Datuk John Tenewi and members of the congress.

Patrick added that the outcome of the seminar would allow DNC to provide recommendations to address the issues and thus, assisting the government to ensure the implementation of the relevant legal framework can be carried out in accordance with human rights law.
