MUKAH:  Members of the Tai Shan Ting Believers Association here took part in a procession to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Mukah Tua Pek Kong yesterday.

The devotees held a dinner reception at a local resort here on Friday in conjunction with the anniversary celebration.

Association chairman Leong King Lee said Mukah Tua Pek Kong was built in 1879, and in the past the temple was involved in the local Chinese community’s welfare and charity works.

“Our ancestors had laid a great path for us, and as the younger generation, we have the responsibility to share our culture and uphold our faith,” he said during the dinner.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo was guest of honour.
