SAMARAHAN: An elderly woman was found dead near a house in Kampung Bangka Semong here on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Serimah Serian, 82, from Kampung Sourabaya Ulu, Petra Jaya.
One of the residents known only as Mohd Othman was going to his backyard at 6.00pm to harvest some vegetables when he saw a woman lying motionless on the ground.
He immediately informed his friend on the discovery who then alerted the police.
A police team from Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters rushed to the scene to investigate the case. Police did not find any criminal elements on the body.
The body was later taken to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem and police had classified the case as sudden death.
