KUCHING: To improve children’s understanding on morale and responsibility, various programmes and initiatives for pre-school children are based on children’s character building, socialisation and communication skills.
These programmes include the “Bersih awal, Bersih akhir” (BaBa) programme, revealed Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
BaBa programmeSpeaking before officiating at the convocation ceremony of pre-school children in Tadika Keria here at the Sarawak State Library, yesterday, the minister explained that the BaBa programme, which was introduced in the beginning of last year, was based on Japan’s educational system.
“We want them to start developing all the good habits and manners from as young as possible so that they are ingrained in their character and last throughout their lives,” she said.
“The BaBa programme will introduce green habits of reduce, reuse, and ways to go green to children. It also focuses on hygiene, cleanliness in and out of the school compound.
“This will help to establish good habits, discipline, responsibility and accountability,” said Fatimah.
