Impressed with the achievements of the students, he said SMK Batu Lintang had become the first choice of many parents who wanted their children to continue their secondary school education.

He advised the students to always aim high in life and in order to achieve their dreams, their first step was through academic and co-curriculum performance while in school.

He also urged students with depression to seek proper guidance from teachers and relevant organisations.

Dr Yii announced that he would contribute RM5,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association this year and another RM5,000 each for the next two years.

Meanwhile, principal Bahtiar Afandi revealed that through a collaboration with the Australian Embassy, American Embassy and Namwon Middle School in Korea, some of the students were given the chance to do a study exchange programme.

Outstanding students from the school had also been offered scholarships by a few top international schools in Singapore.

“Last month our students were national champions of United Kingdom’s Institute of Engineering and Technology International Faraday Challenge.”

He also revealed that the school’s strategic plan was also geared to achieving the Malaysian Education Blueprint (2013-2025) goals in record time.

“According to my estimate, with our school’s potential and momentum, instead of 2025, our intrinsic plan should be achieved in 2021, (to excel at international level), four years earlier than the national projection.

“This is because we are ahead and aware of what we are doing instead of waiting for directives from the top,” he assured.  In terms of academic results in public examinations, SMK Batu Lintang did well in PT3, SPM and STPM. In PT3, the percentage of passes had increased, and improved the overall grade from 2.89 to 3.03.
