Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) hopes that agropreneurs, especially in rural areas, would benefit greatly from the State 2020 Budget, in which one of its main focuses was the agricultural sector.
Its president Munan Laja said he wanted the agriculture sector to achieve something from the funding that had been
allocated.
“Therefore, the government must also consider to allocate more funds for farm roads and use of farm machinery,” he said.
He added that the RM8mil allocated to connect electricity was not enough as rural and urban migration was growing.
“A lot of houses are now built in semi urban areas, this needs electricity. I propose that the allocation be increased to RM16mil,” he stressed.
On another aspect, Munan said the budget did not address the issues of jobless graduates.
“This is a dilemma Sarawak is facing, as a result, many are going outside to look for jobs,” he added.
