KUCHING: A woman suffered a deep laceration to her thigh and abdomen after being attacked with a meat cleaver at a house in Siburan yesterday morning. The suspect is the victim’s daughter who is in her 20’s and suffers from mental illness. Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan disclosed that at the time of the incident, only the victim and the suspect were at home while the victim’s husband went to work in Bau.
“The suspect wielded the meat cleaver and slashed the victim before fleeing the scene. “The cleaver was later found in a rubbish bin eight houses away from the scene,” he said when contacted.
Aidil said that the victim, who suffered injuries to her thigh and abdomen, was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment. He added that the forensics team had been notified to assist with the investigation. Aidil pointed out that a manhunt had been launched to locate the whereabouts of the suspect to facilitate police investigation.
