KAPIT: A total of 269 pupils from 31 Kemas kindergartens in Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Song districts received their scrolls during an appreciation ceremony held at Kapit Civic Centre recently.
Officiating at the function was Kemas Sarawak assistant director Langi Liban, who stressed the importance of early childhood education as a foundation for children to prepare them for formal education.
“Education builds an individual’s character and helps to shape their future. In addition, parents must spend quality time with their children to inculcate their interest in learning.
“At kindergarten, children will acquire basic skills in reading, writing and simple mathematics.
“This is so that when they enter primary school, they are familiar with the formal classroom atmosphere.
“The government provides all the school facilities, so parents must grab the opportunity to send their children to school,” he said.
