KUCHING: Former national champion James Chua paid a visit at the PBM (Pacific Badminton Management) club stadium at Stakan here to share his ideas and technical knowledge of the game to a group of PBM players. Chua, who shared his experience while he was with the national team, was a national player in the 1990s.
The only Sarawakian to ever win the Malaysian Open in the 1990s, Chua was with the Sarawak Sukma team in 1992 in Johor where another Sarawak player Pei Wee Chung won the singles title that year.
Describing the session as very useful, Chua told the players to be more creative on and off the court which is an important aspect for a badminton player who aspires to be a champion.
The Kuala Lumpur-based former national player, who had retired from competitions for almost two decades, was here for the recent World Masters badminton championship hosted by the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and the state government.
