MIRI:  Online teaching will complement the conventional classroom teaching method, said Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) president Ahmad Malie.

He said the recent Covid-19 outbreak had forced teachers throughout the world to adapt to online teaching for their students.

“The movement control order (MCO) entered its third phase today with stricter regulations to ensure the people comply with the rules to stop the chain of transmission of the disease.

“Many sectors including schools are being told to close temporarily during this period. It is indeed a challenging period for all of us,” he said.

Ahmad pointed out that the Covid-19 outbreak tested the country’s education system.

“For students in the rural areas who have no internet access, perhaps the teachers can use the conventional method by asking students to study their textbooks,” he said.
