KUCHING: Ruai Sarawak Exhibition programme is an idea of a frontline to socialise cultural arts within the community.

From here, there will be an expansion of arts activities in the future.

Sarawak Arts Council chief executive officer Sharkawi Amit said, “The exhibition aims to create awareness on both the existence of Sarawak Arts Council and Sarawak diverse culture. We also want to show that there are engagement efforts between Sarawak Arts Council and the non-government organisations.”

This programme held from Feb 11 to 17 is organised by Sarawak Arts Council (MSS) in line with its open day at the old Sarawak State Legistative Assemblyman Building (DUN).

The parties involved are Dayak Cultural Foundation, Federation of Orang Ulu Associations Sarawak, Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak, The Federation of Chinese Associations Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division, Dayak Bidayuh National Association, Persatuan Melanau Kuching, Sarawak Craft Council and Songket Sarawak.

The programme was launched by Sarawak Arts Council board member Tan Sri Datuk Seri Abang Haji Khalid Marzuki.

“Last year we held a lot of arts courses. We will be honouring 251 participants by presenting them their certificates during the prize-giving ceremony on Feb 16.

“We will also be having a concert  by participants who have been attending MSS courses on performing artson Feb 17,” Sharkawi said.
