KUCHING: More individuals or private companies are urged to follow the footsteps of Lien Dak Group by offering a little help to those who are in need.
In making the call, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang said the company has gone beyond their duty for going the extra mile by coming forward to lend a helping hand to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
“As we know the healthcare matter comes under the purview of the federal government, but the Sarawak government has stepped up to offer help whenever it can in the state. This is after all for the betterment of Sarawakians.
“Therefore, not only the Sarawak government and federal government work together to ensure the best healthcare, but also with the assistance and collaboration from the private companies or individuals in helping the public hospitals, this will even provide a more conducive healthcare for our community,” he said in his speech during the handover of medical equipment for SGH Paediatric Clinic at Kozi Square here today.
Meanwhile, when met by reporters, Tiang said the donation of the equipment was a most extraordinary example of how a private corporate is supporting the public health facility.
“In the past, this company especially during the COVID-19 pandemic has been supporting SGH by supporting the frontliners in many aspects providing meals and accommodation, and not only that they even make good use of this Kozi Shopping Complex next to SGH as a new space for a paediatric clinic and drive-through pharmacy.
“All this giving and helping SGH to provide better medical services to the public in quite an unexpected way, I would say, without the private sector lending this helping hand SGH can’t do that much with the limited spaces and limited resources,” he pointed out.
As a corporate social responsibility (CSR), the company handed over 14 units of medical examination couch with foldable steps and another 13 units of medical X-Ray viewer for the use of SGH’s Paediatric Clinic with a cost of RM12,000.
