BAU: The Tasik Biru Festival is expected to draw some 60,000 visitors to this former gold-mining town.
This time, it will last for 10 days from Sept 22 to Oct 2, with various exciting programmes lined up for the public.
Bau District officer Anielia Siam said the previous one, which was only three days, was too short for entrepreneurs and visitors alike.
“In the last post-mortem meeting, we found that running it over the weekend was too short a period (for entrepreneurs) to sell (their) products.
“Secondly, many were unable to fully enjoy the event,” she explained. “The Tasik Biru Festival also provides an opportunity for traders and the local community to hold activities that have been planned.”
An extended period would allow visitors to fully enjoy the atmosphere as well as the programmes planned, she added. “That is our target to further stimulate the local economy.”
Meanwhile, the Bau Bicentennial Bridge project costing RM1mil has been completed.
The 60m-long pedestrian bridge spanning across Tasik Biru is expected to be inaugurated by Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Deputy Minister for Transport, on Thursday (Sept 22).
