KUCHING: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak chapter’s interim secretary Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian said Sarawak Day is a very meaningful day for Sarawakians as they share together their care and love for the state.
“All Sarawakians play their roles in celebrating the peace and harmony we have achieved today,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.
Jaziri added that it can also be an example to others on how concerned we are especially for having peace and harmony in the state.
“For the sake of our people we need to organise more events to celebrate together with the community so that the community can take the opportunity to express their feelings,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Jaziri said Bintulu has been chosen to host the Sarawak Day celebration because of its uniqueness and also because the first State Assembly sitting was held in Bintulu in 1963.
“It is also the birthplace of Sarawak’s PPBM which was officially launched by the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad last year,” he said.
