KUCHING: In unveiling the 2025 Budget, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised a “Rakyat First” approach, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The budget reflected the government’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of the people, uplifting their dignity, and upholding their rights.

“The 2025 Budget’s primary objective is to drive change through fiscal responsibility and governance, boost the economy by increasing productivity and national income, and enhance the welfare of the people by improving living standards and strengthening social security,” he said in a statement.

As the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), Fadillah also highlighted the budget’s significant allocation for his sectors.

“The development of the energy and water sectors will see a total investment of RM4.95 billion, comprising RM362.67 million for operational expenditure and RM4.59 billion for development expenditure,” he added.

He pointed out the relevance of this investment to climate challenges.

“With the increasing impacts of climate change leading to extreme weather conditions and contributing to floods, PETRA is committed to implementing flood mitigation projects as announced in the Budget Speech.
