In the world of male pageantry, where tradition and charisma blend into a seamless presentation of polish and poise, a fellow Sarawakian stands out as a refreshing newcomer in Manhunt Malaysia 2024.
For Chris Foo, this year is not just about making his debut at the top world pageant but also about earning the crown of Gentlemen of Malaysia.
Born and raised in Kuching and currently working as a real estate agent, Foo’s journey to the stage was sparked by an accidental passion, stemming from his recent involvement with an international pageant.
Reminiscing about his experiences, this 27-year-old man shared his journey as he introduced himself to the world and broke the norms of male pageantry.
On September 16, at the Geo Resort and Hotel in Genting Highlands, Pahang, Foo represented Sarawak in Manhunt Malaysia 2024, competing against 13 other outstanding finalists from across the country.
During the competition, this 190-centimetre-tall man earned the subsidiary title of Mr Personality.
He will also be representing Malaysia in Indonesia for Gentlemen of the World this December.
For him, his mission is simple: to inspire other Sarawakians to reach the pinnacle of male pageantry.
“It was my first attempt at joining a pageant; thus, I must say it caught me by surprise to a certain extent!”
“As I am not just representing myself, but I am known as Manhunt Malaysia Sarawak, it was one of the proudest moments of my life.
“Previously, I was behind the scenes of a pageant, but this time I was on stage myself, where all eyes were on me.
“To speak in front of more than 500 pageant enthusiasts and professionals is not an easy task.”
“Stage presence, time management, and an in-depth understanding of the subject matter of a pageant have significantly improved my personal confidence and self-presentation in all aspects of my future life and career.
“I am advocating for early childhood education and its importance, and I believe this will be my greatest strength as I raise the Malaysian flag high to promote this good cause to the rest of the world,” said the elder of two siblings.
