SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang has described Nurseri Sarang Pipit as a role model for the plant nursery business in his constituency.
Idris pointed out that it is his first time seeing local and Bumiputera folk using their home compound to plant and start a nursery in a systematic way.
Therefore, he applauded their efforts to generate income during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I have seen this concept traditionally used in Japan, Thailand, Korea and parts of Europe.
“Concepts like this should be encouraged to help increase income, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. It also encourages us to pick up new activities,” he said.
He said this during the symbolic opening ceremony of Nurseri Sarang Pipit at Kampung Sindang last Saturday.
He added that the concept introduced by the nursery is creative, which houses forest plants, herbs, and many more.
“This is a good example for youth and women, especially single mothers, to earn additional income to sustain the challenges posed Covid-19,” he said.
At the same time, Idris said businesses such as this have a large market.
“Dahini Saini, the founder of Nurseri Sarang Pipit, also conducts research to see how these plants can be enhanced.
“I am confident that herbs such as daun singkil which cannot be found in West Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as terung asam, have the potential to break through a wider market,” he said.
