SIBU:  Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the new wing of the United Chinese Association (UCA) Sibu Division’s building here on Wednesday (Oct 21).

The building, completed in 2002 after five years of construction, is an iconic building for the Chinese.

The Sarawak government had allocated RM1 million to UCA to build its new wing.

Work on the project started in March last year and was completed this year.

‘It is also a sign of the entrepreneurship and organisational skills and independent spirit of the Chinese community in Sibu.

‘The new wing is for the members to use and open for rent.’
