MIRI: In a heartfelt tribute during the ‘Program Madani Rakyat Sarawakku Sayang 2024’, NAIM’s regional manager, Haliza Segar, presented a special memento commemorating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s inauguration of Desa Ilmu back in 1997.

This significant moment marked the beginning of one of NAIM’s landmark housing projects in the Kota Samarahan area.

Desa Ilmu, a major housing development project, has since blossomed into a thriving township, playing a pivotal role in the transformation of Kota Samarahan into a vibrant and accessible community.

Over the years, the project has grown to encompass approximately 3,630 housing units, making it one of the largest mixed developments in the Samarahan region.

“Desa Ilmu has been instrumental in the growth of Kota Samarahan, offering affordable housing options and contributing to the development of the community,” said NAIM in a statement today.

The township is strategically located near key educational institutions such as Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), making it an ideal location for residents seeking both convenience and connectivity.

“In alignment with Malaysia’s and Sarawak’s national objectives to expand affordable housing, NAIM has partnered with Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) to deliver affordable housing across Miri, Kuching, and Samarahan. This collaboration aims to build and complete 5,600 housing units, with around 2,900 already completed,” it said.

“These efforts reaffirm NAIM’s dedication to addressing the housing needs of Sarawakians.

“The company continues to contribute positively to Sarawak’s development, not only through property initiatives but also through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes that enhance the well-being of local communities.

“The presentation of the memento underscores NAIM’s enduring legacy in Sarawak and its ongoing commitment to creating sustainable, community-focused developments that improve the lives of its residents,” it said.
