KUCHING: Setting up TV Sarawak, a new television station under Sarawak Media Group (SMG), is a suitable and timely move, opined a lecturer on communications programme at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Dr Lee Kuok Tiung.
He said that the creative industry had great prospects and could generate high profits.
“Productions for TV Sarawak can also be sold to other broadcasting stations,” he said when contacted on Thursday.
He added that the new television station would create employment opportunities for Sarawakians.
“It will also be a platform for creative industry players in Sarawak who are currently forced to compete with those in Malaya for a spot.
“We need to remember that although the current trend is social media, most of the new media now is hybrid in nature – meaning it can be accessed through other channels as well,” said Lee.
