PALOH: The RM100 million road project from Kampung Paloh to Tanjung Manis has been approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg through the Delta Rajang Development Agency (RADDA).
Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab said the project would bring comfort and significant benefits to the residents of Kampung Paloh, Kampung Kedang, Kampung Berangan in the Semop constituency, and Kampung Stalun in Kuala Rajang.
“At the initial stage of project implementation, a gravel road spanning 24km will be constructed, including small bridges and the provision of a ferry at Batang Belawai to facilitate transportation for the people.
“The actual cost of providing complete infrastructure, including a larger bridge, is estimated at RM400 million and will be implemented in subsequent phases,” he said after attending a Gawai Program 2023 at Kampung Berangan recently.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Public Communication Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol was also present.
Yusuf said that although the project is just a gravel road, it will provide convenience for the residents in the area to market local products, which will undoubtedly boost the local economy.
“I hope this road can be implemented in the near future as it will be the first step in connecting these areas with Tanjong Manis, as the area is still isolated and lacks connecting roads for the residents,” he said.
Earlier, Abdullah who also spoke during the event, said that various projects requested by longhouse residents in the Berangan, Kedang and Paloh areas would be implemented once they are all approved.
