BETONG: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Betong Zone has pledged full support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari’s leadership.

PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said all 14 PBB Betong branches are ready to strive alongside the chief minister for the sake of PBB, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), and Sarawak.

“I urge all PBB members to stand together, unite, and cooperate with each other. United we stand, divided we fall. PBB has been strong all this while. Let us continue to strengthen PBB’s machinery.

“PBB must win! Win! Win! If PBB wins, GPS wins; if GPS wins, Sarawak is safe and (continues to) advance.

“Our mission is to retain the GPS government, and retain Abang Johari as chief minister. Abang Jo, you are not alone!”

He said this during his address at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Betong Zone special convention held at Dewan Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan, here on Saturday (Sept 26).

Uggah, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, said Abang Johari is also a leader for all races in Sarawak.

“His inclusive policies are clear when we see how the Sarawak Islamic Council takes care of the affairs of Muslims, and at the same time, there is also the Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) for non-Muslims.

“Both of these (initiatives) are always aided by Abang Johari to ensure development for all religions and none are left behind.

He said it can also be seen that the establishment of organisation for the multiracial communities in Sarawak has also been assisted by the chief minister.

“Abang Johari has kindly offered financial assistance and sites for Unifor, Malay Culture Foundation, Orang Ulu Associations Sarawak (Forum), Dayak Cultural Foundation, Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) and the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).

“All of these were done to maintain and strengthen the peace and harmony between all races and religions,” he added.
