KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg described the passing of Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Nor as a great loss to Sarawak.

Abang Johari said the late Bujang Nor had contributed significantly to the development of Sarawak, especially in the transition to industrial development.

“In fact, the late Bujang Nor was always committed to his duties, starting from his role as District Officer until being appointed as the State Financial Secretary and the State Secretary.

“Bujang Nor held two important positions, namely the State Financial Secretary, during which we are still developing our state in the transition to industrial development.

“He was the one who equally contributed to the development of Bintulu,” he was quoted in a TVS report after visiting the residence of Bujang Nor at Jalan Abong Taip, Satok here today.

Abang Johari said that the passing of Bujang Nor was a sad news as Sarawak lost an administrator, manager and economy.

He added that during his lifetime, Bujang Nor had always provided opinions and shared ideas, especially from an economic development perspective.

“Today we are saddened by the loss of one of our leaders, an administrator, a manager and an economist who has contributed a lot to the development of Sarawak,” said Abang Johari.

Bujang, who turned 88 on Aug 8, passed away in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Normah Specialist Medical Centre yesterday.

He was the fourth State Secretary from 1984 to 1992 and was appointed as acting Head of State for about a month in 2015.
