KUCHING : Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has thanked Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya for singling out Sarawak as the only state in the country to have an integrity unit in the office of the chief minister or menteri besar.
“I would like to say thank you (for her statement). We are doing it in stages. The process has to be correct,” he said when officiating at the Land and Survey Department’s Innovation and Integrity Day yesterday.
On Tuesday, New Sarawak Tribune frontpaged a story on the MACC chief’s call to chief ministers and menteri besar to emulate Abang Johari who took the lead in establishing the State Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (Union) in his office as a step to eliminate corruption or irregularities. Latheefa noted that only Sarawak has set up the integrity unit.
