BALI: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has arrived in Bali for the 2023 World Hydropower Congress today.
He is among the esteemed speakers scheduled to speak at the Congress’ opening ceremony tomorrow (Oct 31).
The 2023 World Hydropower Congress, taking place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre from Oct 31 to Nov 3, will be officiated by Republic of Indonesia President Joko Widodo.
Before the opening ceremony, Abang Johari will participate in a bilateral meeting with former Prime Minister of Australia and President Designate of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) Malcolm Turnbull.
He will also attend the ASEAN High Level Forum Dialogue.
The forum will discuss the outlook of hydropower and key trends in the ASEAN region, covering countries’ plans, opportunities, and challenges for the development of sustainable hydropower to facilitate climate goals, ensure energy security and support sustainable growth.
The session will feature notable speakers including Turnbull, Indonesia Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, ACE executive director Dr Nuki Utama, PT PLN (Persero) president director Darmawan Prasodjo, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili and others.
For the record, Abang Johari was accompanied by Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, Chief Political Secretary Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain.
