KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be speaking on Sarawak’s green energy initiatives in Singapore next week.

The Premier said he was invited to speak at the 15th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) which is held at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from Oct 25 to 28.

“Insya-Allah, next week I will be in Singapore as a guest of the Singapore government to speak on green energy in the SIEW with global participation. Not bad lah (for) Sarawak,” he said.

He said this when officiating the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Awards (SCSICA) 2022 at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre last night (Oct 21).

Abang Johari, who is also the Minister of Finance and New Economy, said his talk on green energy is all part of Sarawak’s innovation to add value to natural resources the state has.

“This is innovation, because I want to add value to the strength which is our energy that we have and when we add value to our resources, meaning (more) revenue stream (into) Sarawak.

“And this is what we are doing and I hope that Sarawak will achieve what we have set in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he said.

Earlier this year, Abang Johari was also invited to give a speech in Singapore and later in Rotterdam on the state’s green economy initiatives.

In September, Abang Johari and members of his delegation also flew to South Korea, among others, to enhance partnerships with Korean industries in relation to green energy generation and innovation.

This month, he was then invited to speak at a forum entitled ‘Time to Act’ climate climate action movement, to accelerate viable decarbonisation efforts.
