BANGKOK: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy visit from officials of Thailand’s national petroleum exploration and production company, PTTEP.
The delegation was composed of PTTEP’s Executive Vice President of the International Production Asset Group, Piya Sukhumpanumet; Executive Vice President of Technology, Carbon Solutions, and Sustainable Growth Group, Nopasit Chaiwanakupt; Country Manager, Malaysia Asset, and Lang Lebah Asset Director, Padsakorn Suwanruji; Senior Vice President of the Carbon and Energy Solutions Division, Maylada Chayavadhanangkur; Vice President of the International Production Asset Group Planning and Joint Venture Asset Management Department, Khanitta Tanadtang; Senior Advisor of Lang Lebah Asset, Poheng Ujie; and Head of Greenfield Development Planning, Detchai Ittharat.
Sukhumpanumet said the purpose of the courtesy visit was to welcome Abang Johari and his delegation to Thailand, as well as to provide updates on PTTEP’s project in Sarawak.
“PTTEP has been present in Sarawak since 2016, starting from the exploration phase of the Lang Lebah Oil and Gas Field. We have an office and base in Bintulu, where we have our gas terminal for the export of LNG.
“We also discussed Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), the challenges, and the future of new energy sources like hydrogen,” he told reporters yesterday.
Meanwhile, Suwanruji said PTTEP is eager to explore more collaboration opportunities with Sarawak.
He also mentioned that PTTEP admires and commends Abang Johari’s passion and commitment to renewable and clean energy.
“We are looking forward to collaborating more with Sarawak to support the state’s vision and roadmap for renewable energy,” he said.
Also present during the courtesy visit were the state secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi; Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, as well as other distinguished guests.
