KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership has set a remarkable example, with the state’s development being lauded and emulated by others.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian noted that the people of Peninsular Malaysia are amazed by Sarawak.

“They admire Sarawak, because they must have seen something good happening in our environment.

“Before this, they said we lived in trees, so the reason they are suddenly amazed now is that Sarawak is an example for everyone and this is only possible because of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and because of our Premier’s policy and leadership, Abang Jo,” he said.

Sim explained that Sarawak’s stability has caught the attention of people across Malaysia and Singapore, leading to an increasing admiration for the state.

“We are not like in Peninsular Malaysia where it is uncertain who friends are and who our foes are.

“Therefore, the people of Sarawak must continue to support a premier whose policies not only allow Sarawak to increase its income but also make the state more respected and admired,” he said.

At the gala dinner commemorating the 8th anniversary of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang and the Chinese New Year dinner held last night (Feb 27), the Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government stressed that Sarawak is embarking on a pivotal phase in the nation’s development.

“Establishing a nation is a monumental task, and it must be undertaken promptly. If we miss this opportunity, it may not present itself again as we’ve waited for this chance for 60 years.

“Crucially, we must gear up for nation-building by 2030, given that the next parliamentary elections are in 2037, and the political landscape in 2031 is uncertain.

“In the next six years, let’s do everything in our power to transform Sarawak into a state that is not only respected but also envied,” he urged.

Addressing the youths, he urged them to collaborate in the development of Sarawak and the state-building process.

“State-building necessitates people, effort, and talent, which is why Sarawak offers international schools and free education,” he added.

He thanked SUPP supporters whose backing led to SUPP candidates’ triumph in the last state elections, making them representatives of the people in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.
