KUCHING: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister cum Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hopes that the federal budget 2020 would have a lot of allocations for Sarawak.

“I think we (the state government) would not be involved in that budget, but I hope for some good stuff for Sarawak,” he said at a press conference in his office at Baitul Makmur building here, yesterday.

When asked for more elaboration, he expressed concern for his ministries which needs a lot more allocations to promote the state.

“It’s to build our cultures, and also for youth and sports, especially the development of our young athletes and infrastructure,” he said.

Commenting on the previous budget, he did not hesitate to describe it as “not really a good one”.

“I don’t have last year’s exact figure, but that is the year the Pakatan Harapan just formed the government. We can accept their excuses, but after one year they should be able to manage it properly.

“If they still cannot come up with a good budget, then we will know they are just not good enough to be in the government. (It will be) time for change,” he said.
