KUCHING: Sabah and Sarawak should not miss out on any activity or programme organised by the federal Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Sarawak Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hoped that new federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh would not focus too much on programmes in Peninsular Malaysia.
“We have two big states, Sabah and Sarawak. Do come over and visit us.
“You are very much welcomed in Sarawak. Come up with lots of activities for us also,” he said on working together with Yeoh.
He was speaking to the media after chairing the 55th Saberkas supreme committee meeting here on yesterday (Dec 5).
Abdul Karim, who is also Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, also congratulated Yeoh on her appointment.
“Hannah is an experienced individual, having been the Speaker of the Selangor Legislative Assembly (DUN) and the Member of Parliament who had the largest majority in the recent 15th general election,” he said.
Yeoh, 43, was appointed to lead the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the unity government announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Friday.
The Segambut MP is the second woman to hold the position, which was previously held by Datuk Azalina Othman Said, who is also the Pengerang MP.
She previously held the position of Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development during the Pakatan Harapan government.
