MUKAH: Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was full of praise for the people of Mukah who thronged the Mukah Stadium to give the Sarawak football team added support.

The Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurial Development of Sarawak said the extraordinary support boosted the Sarawak team’s confidence in their Malaysia Games (Sukma) Group D match against Federal Territory on Wednesday (Aug 14).

Muhammad Shahrulaikal Mohamad Nasir gave Federal Territory the lead in the 29th minute but Sarawak equalised in the second half when Muhammad Faris scored at the 59th minute ending the match at 1-1.

“I hope the people of Mukah will continue to come to this stadium to support future matches.

“Likewise, in other venues, we want to see the entire Sarawak community supporting the games throughout Sukma,” he told reporters after the match.

Moreover, Abdul Karim who was at the football match to witness the game, said that throughout the entire game, the match was organised in order and that there were no incidents.

He also invited members of the public to catch the opening ceremony live or on television as well as other official media platforms.

Abdul Karim said that the the opening ceremony on Aug 17 will feature exciting events and performances.

Also present at the press conference were Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol and Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.
