LUBOK ANTU: More development projects will be implemented here to ensure the area will not be left behind from modernisation.
This was pointed out by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg when he officiated at the “Sejiwa Senada” programme at Dataran Keling, here, yesterday.
“Some projects will be implemented such as the construction of a mini stadium in Engkilili costing RM8 million, a concrete bridge over Batang Ai at Merebung, Engkilili costing RM13.6 million and the upgrading of Pekan Lubok Antu Waterfront costing RM5 million.
“This ‘Sejiwa Senada’ programme site will become a town square named ‘Dataran Keling’. I hope when this place becomes a town square, outsiders will come and hopefully the local economic activities will improve,” he said.
Johari also announced that the State government will give early allocation for certain road development.
“Jalan Nanga Kesit, Ulu Lemanak, Nanga Stamang and Ulu Engkari covering 25 kilometres costs RM120 million. However, for the first phase of construction, the state government will spend RM50 million while the Federal government will continue later.
“The road construction in the Nanga Linsum area, Mara and Malanjan covering 17 kilometres will be paid by the State government costing RM45 million,” he added.
Johari also said the road projects would transform the agriculture and tourism sectors in the Lubok Antu parliamentary constituency when the state becomes a developed state in Malaysia by 2030.
