KUCHING: Dato Tan Jit Kee, the president of Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS), yesterday led a group to the location of the fire that engulfed Sebuyau town.
Last Saturday (Aug 6), 10 shophouses of more than 40 and 50 years old, were razed to the ground, of which six units belonged to members of the Sebuyau Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Tan handed over donations to the 10 victims with hope that the donations could alleviate their financial burden and the eventual rebuilding of the shophouses.
Among those accompanying the president were ACCCIS vice-president Datuk Dr Ngu Piew Seng, secretary-general Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok, assistant treasurer Ho Siew Hua, digital economy committee chairman Rodger Chan Siong Boh and SMEs & HRD committee deputy chairman Lai Chau Liong.
Also present were Penghulu Law Khin Seng, the president of Sebuyau Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Pemanca Chai Min Lee, the vice-president of Serian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Chang Foh Chin, the executive secretary of Serian Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
