BINTULU: The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) wants employers and workers in the country to pay more attention to safety aspects at the work sites in view of the rising occupational accident cases.
NIOSH Chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said statistics from the Social Security Organisation (SOSCO) has shown that occupational accidents has increased five percent for the past two years that indicated the need for more stringent measures to reduce the risk of accidents at the workplace.
“The total number of occupational accidents had increased five percent from 66,618 cases in 2016 to 69,980 cases in 2017,” he said when opening the two-day seminar on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) here yesterday. – Bernama
