SERIAN: An accident near Kampung Sungai Engkabang on Jalan Serian-Sri Aman at around 1.30pm on Friday (Nov 3) resulted in injuries to a lorry driver and his assistant.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that both individuals had to be extricated from the wreckage of their five-tonne lorry, with the rescue operation involving breaking the vehicle’s windshield.
“The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the lorry, causing it to veer to the left side of the road and eventually crash into a ditch.
“Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters from the Serian station found both victims trapped inside the lorry’s cabin but not pinned down.
“After stabilising the lorry, they proceeded to break the windshield to free the injured individuals,” according to Bomba.
Both victims received initial first aid treatment at the scene before being transported to Serian Hospital for further medical care.
