SIBU: An Indonesian plantation worker and a motorcyclist were killed in two separate accidents in Mukah and Dalat respectively on Sunday.

In the first case which happened at 11.09am at KM 53 Sibu-Bintulu Road, Hamsan Hamdani, 31, died after a truck crashed into him.

“The accident happened when the victim was trying to start a truck from outside.

“The truck suddenly surged forward and hit the workers’ house and he was struck by the door of the truck,” said Dalat district police chief, Deputy Supt Saga Chungat.

He said the victim suffered head injuries and died at the scene. The body was sent to Sibu Hospital for further action.

In another case in Mukah, a motorcyclist died after he rammed his machine into a car.
Mukah district police chief Dep Supt Billy Panyau said in the 8.30pm accident at KM13 Jalan Mukah-Oya on Sunday, a 56-year-old motorist was about to turn  his car right to head home when he was startled by a loud bang.

His car had collided with motorcycle travelling in the same direction. 

The motorcyclist, Mohammad Suffian, died on the spot from head injuries.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
