SIBU: An account assistant lost RM16,800 after she was cheated by a police “officer” from Melaka station.
Sibu OCPD Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim, 29, had on Nov 30, received a call from a person who identified himself as a police officer from Melaka.
“The man told her that her name was among those being blacklisted for credit card debts,” he said.
Stanley said the woman gave her banking and personal particulars to the “officer” out of fear. She was also told to submit her photograph.
“After giving the TAC (Type Allocation Code), she found two withdrawals were made from her account of RM10,000 and RM6,800,” he said.
It was only then that she found out she had been cheated by the “officer”. Stanley said the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
